A Response to Atheism: An Introduction

An Introduction

It has been a very long time since I last posted a blog, but I stumbled upon an article called 5 Pretty Good Reasons to be an Atheist by a man named Staks Rosch. Now, I don’t know much about Mr. Rosch aside from the (really) short bio that’s on this Huffington Post that calls him a “Blogger, atheist, and Humanist.”

Below, I have listed his 5 reasons and the moniker “pretty good” seems appropriate for they are, by no means, great reasons at all. Of course, his blog is merely a quick list that does not  go into any great depth on the issues that he mentions. So, my responses to his reasons will be the same.

Now, when I say that Rosch’s reasons are not good reasons at all, I do not mean that they are uncomplicated or that they have easy answers. Mostly what I mean is that his own reasoning behind the concerns that he lists is rather shallow. That sounds very much like a personal shot at Rosch, but that is not my intention. I am sure that there is more depth behind his thinking. If the logic behind these five reasons serves as any sort of foundation of his opinions, then there is a serious need to go a little deeper.

For the next few days, I am going to post short responses to his concerns in individual posts. Below is the list of his reasons, and I encourage you to click the link and read his article above. Here is the list, and stay tuned for the next few installments:

  1. The Bible is ridiculous.
  2. We don’t need no stinkin’ deities.
  3. The Problem of Evil
  4. Oh, Hell!
  5. You just don’t know.
  6. Conclusion
